About

Rachel Fowler is an Emmy-award winning multi-faceted editor with a passion for cutting impactful and riveting main title sequences.

Currently based in Los Angeles, Rachel started her editorial training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, not too far from where she grew up in Charlotte, NC. Rachel began as a self-taught editor and designer, creating fan videos and short films on Windows Movie Maker in middle school. Keeping her love for computers close to her heart, she earned her BFA in Film Editing & Sound Design, and then continued her journey at Prologue Films in Venice, CA in 2012.

At Prologue, Rachel was a lead editor for 6 years and collaborated on a variety of iconic titles including American Horror Story: Coven, Beauty and the Beast (2017), World War Z (2013), and Star Trek: Discovery. In 2017, Rachel’s lead editorial work on the main title for FEUD earned her first Emmy nomination.

Rachel started working at MakeMake - Design & Animation (formerly “Elastic”) as a freelance editor for what she thought was going to be a day-long gig. Since 2018, she has contributed to a myriad of Emmy-nominated main titles, such as The Politician and Game of Thrones: Season 8. Rachel and her team at MakeMake took home the Emmy three years in a row for Outstanding Main Title Design for The Last of Us (2023), SHŌGUN (2024), and Omnivore (2025, News & Documentary Emmy Awards).

In addition to editing title sequences, Rachel exercises her wide range of skills in freelance projects including commercials, visual effects, and montage editing. She has also built a portfolio as a main title designer, crafting original designs for opening sequences for indie films. Beyond editing and design, Rachel is a collector and a LEGO enthusiast, whose whole history can be scored by her eclectic collection of intentionally curated playlists for every mood and occasion. A proud mom of two dogs and two cats, she embraces care and creativity in all aspects of her life.

Rachel has recognized and admired the power of main titles from a very young age. With her many years of experience in the field, she brings insights from her past projects to the table, and approaches new challenges with curiosity and enthusiasm. As a proud queer artist, Rachel intentionally engages with LGBTQIA+ stories, elevating them with her voice and lived experience. In her work, she melds meticulously selected imagery with powerful sound design, captivating audiences as they plunge into a new cinematic world.
